Our Chinese Ancestors
“The Chinese have always been interested in their past — worship of ancestors is worship of origins.” (Heinz 1999:225). Ancestor worship is based on the belief that deceased family members have a continued existence, take an interest in the affairs of the world, and possess the ability to influence the fortune of the living.
Finding Their Way
Our ancestors found their way from China to various parts of the globe… to the USA, England, the Middle East, Canada, South America, the Philippines, and Central and Latin America. To each locale they brought their fortitude, intellect, work ethic, determination, and strong will to make a better life for their families. That’s because family was #1.
Respecting Nature
In no other cultural tradition has nature played a more important role in the arts than in that of China. Real and imagined creatures of the earth were endowed with special attributes. Mountains were also imbued with sacred powers as they concealed herbs, fruits, and minerals that held the promise of longevity..
